Yesterday when the living in Cocoli was easy--- the tropical family housing was really maintained
rather nicely. The Public Works people had a continued battle with wasp, red army ants, snakes, termites and the infamous
cucarachas. But it seemed that the Cocolians were winning the war. Then came the treaties and the downsizing--- the end was
near.
Today many of the 500 houses are now history. The termites have won the war. There is
nobody living in Cocoli these days. It is now fenced off and a restricted area. When I lived there we never had any fences---
Oh, well time marches on!
Thanks to Tomas Carey we have this most recent picture
of Cocoli. As you can see the jungle is moving in and there are fewer houses now then back in 1939. Yes, Cocoli is going---going
and it will soon be all gone! To bad for I spent some of my best years growing up in this bustling little town where when
everything was said and done--- the living was easy.
